Hi.. Further to Fridays posting on my cards made from the goody bag, here are the remaining cards I made from the leftovers I have also used the free stamp of a chandelier to make some additional toppers

Thelma's birthday

Today is my sisters birthday and I made her the card below.

The image is very vintage and I complimented the look with a quote form Jane Austen 1814 Mansfield Park

Die cuts were done by using spellbinders nestabilities and papers were from an old stash I had completely forgotten about, so sorry I can't be specific on that front

The silver tags have been punched using Stampin Up tag punches and embossed with a floral designed cuttlebug folder

The black ribbon embellishment styled Happy Birthday greeting was done to add styling to the hat like the Victorian bonnets would have had

The cream embellishment at the bottom left corner was made using a hougie board .. And is simply a 12 inch strip of patterned paper that has been further detailed using a border punch to create the lovely edging .. Again a ribbon has been added for extra impact

Clock timepiece

I decided to make a timepiece inspired project for friends of ours who are excellent clock repairers

I used a Tim Holtz die to Cut the copper coloured metal clock face.

Clock embellishments I have collected over the past few months and squirrelled away for just a project .. These included a broken clock spring, some miniature cogs and an old clock face taken from an old watch and then mounted onto a Tim Holtz die cut which was cut from balsa wood for adding extra depth A few time influenced sentiments complete the project, these were made using a Debbie Moore product called Metal Magic.

The sentiments were simple to make from thick paper which is metal magiced with the copper colour and then stamped with a polymer stamp which has been stamped with ink prior to stamping into the metal magic. More info on using metal magic can be found on the Debbi Moore web site

Christmas candles

Tonight we made some Christmas candles using vellum for a shade and a wine glass as a base.

A simple crescent shape is cut from vellum and this is wrapped around the glass to made a faux shade Anything from your crafty stash can be used to decorate the shade. I have decorated one in a Christmas theme ... White stazon is used here to stamp a random snowflake design and i have added silver deer cut outs and some silver stick on gems to decorate it. A punch has also been used to mirror the snowflake design.

I also made this more shabby styled design using Papermania vellum. I thought the roses looked really effective.... A laced up ribbon design added both a design element and a practical application in that it held the shade together with having to glue it. Some additional detail has been added by highlighting some of the elements of the roses with a sticky glue pen and then embellishing with glitter. Again gems have been added around the edge to highlight the bottom.

Remember folks only use the faux tea lights in these. Our local store sells 4 battery operated tea lights for £1.00, so an inexpensive gift idea that can be personalised for any occasion.

Animal cards

Tonight I was inspired to make this animal card


The background is made from a single piece of black paper randomly ripped to create a camouflage style effect



A few animal type sentiments complete the look


I also used some fluffy hairy wool to make a rustic style sign for the "have a wild one" sentiment and a black brad to symbolise a nail holding up the sign

I used a single zebra stamp and the masking technique to replicate the zebra twice to make the little herd

The zebra are coloured with promarker in cool grey 5

I grounded the zebra by using a different promarker cool grey 1 to give the illusion of them walking in the bush velt



The border is simply a piece of ribbon from my stash which I thought mirrored the style and colour of the card

Christmas cake 2011

Wow ...my Christmas cake creation is complete

I made it

I baked it

I decorated it

Now if only it was Christmas eve... I would Eat it

If it tastes as good as I looks I will be well pleased

Wire work

I got some wire thread at the knitting and stitching show and decided to have a go at crocheting with it



I added a few beads to the wire circle for added effect and made a small basket

Then I tried making a much larger basket


I soon discovered that the wire was a little too thick so I will have to buy some thinner wire and test that

I also realised that is best to use highly contrasting beads... The clear and lightly coloured ones just don't work well and are very difficult to see on the finished design

I will post the next projects with the thinner wire soon
