Powertex Retreat Day 2

Another exciting day at Powertex HQ with our hosts Tracy and Gary.

Today saw Thelma and myself getting up at the craic of dawn to go car booting at the local Slough car boot sale. I have never seen anything like it, so many bargains and items to be repurposed, so little hand luggage to get it all home.

At 10 o'clock we started a new project with our tutor Tracy. The art we made today was using the new Powertex texture products.

As you can see everyone was having a grand time, getting creative as usual.

Powertex Retreat

This weekend Thelma and I headed to Slough England for the annual Powertex UK retreat.

Tracy and Gary proved excellent hosts, they had organised an action packed weekend.

Saturday was a hilarious afternoon with Birde Haywood, the Queen of Polymer Clay.
Birde taught us how to make realistic faces and bodies from polymer clay to enhance our POwertex figures.

The class was excellent and Thelma and I learned loads of tips and tricks.

Birde also treated us to a workshop to make a fish from black polymer clay and then highlight it with the Powertex colouring products.

Below is the fish I made

The evening ended with a massive barbecue.

All the Powertex ladies had brought homemade cakes and bakes, salads and all manner of foodie delights. All delicious indeed.

Cannot wait to do it all again next year.

Polly Dollies workshop

Thelma and I had a great day today at Felicia Thomas' workshop Polly Dollies.
Felicia had travelled up North to Ballyclare so us crafty girls in NI could finally get a chance to do one of her workshops.

It was a great day .... Learning to draw the faces for the dolls and spending time learning how to add character too.

Here is the finished Polly Dolly from Thelma ...

This is my effort

Everything was made from scratch, including the backgrounds.

What a truly lovely day learning and laughing with friends.

Polly Dollies

Lilys Craft Attic have been in invited to a Polly Dollies class with our lovely friend Felicia who is traveling all the up to Ballyclare to share her talents with us.

It's going to be a real experience because as many of my friend know I cannot draw for toffee.

Ahh well the craic will be might as usual... Looking forward to it.

Please check back in a few days for photos of our efforts at this class.

Kids crafting

It's always a pleasure to pass on crafting to the next generation.

Today we had a lovely day sticky and gluing with Grace and Holly.

They made their own mixed media covers for their new art folders.

I am sure you will agree they did a fine job.
