Contemporary Christmas tree

Here are my trio of Christmas trees,,,

oops I forgot to post them before Christmas , but better later than never

I decided to go for a different theme of pink and pale green instead of the traditional bright red and dark green
The paper pack came free with a craft magazine, sorry I can't remember which one.

The smallest tree was made using a punched border in different sized lengths. Just scrunched up the paper and attached using double sided tape.

The middle sized tree was simply wrapped using the free papers and decorated with a few ribbons and the lovely pink spotty feathers.

The largest tree was constructed by using a simple heart shaped die cut which was then folded in half. I then attached each heart the point of the heart to the cone shape. Then the heart shapes are offset on the next row and stacked from the bottom to the top of the cone for a effective fir effect.

Glass bead making workshop

On Saturday Thelma and I had the most enjoyable afternoon with the very talented Maggie from ' i glass studio '

What could be better than molten glass and the fun of moving and manipulating something so fluid into a beautiful hand made bead.

I tell you, it's very addictive, and some of those glass products are now going onto my Christmas list.

Maggie had taken the beads we have made back to her workshop to fire them in her kiln. This will harden them properly so we can actually use them in our own jewellery creations.

Some many beautiful colours of glass to choose from ....

....And only a few precious hours to get bead making.

Here is one of Thelma's beads having its purple swirling coat added.

Obviously when we get the beads back from the kiln I shall post the pictures with a link here.

Jewellery makes

Lilys Craft Attic have been busy creating some lovely metal jewellery of late.

Here some photos of what Thelma has been working on.

This copper wire work really suits the metallic bead choice. It's a very organic flowing piece, and sits nicely around your neck.

Again the piece above is made using copper wire which has been twisted.
This piece is a lot finer than the previous with very delicate purple wire mesh flowers.

The green ring above was made at one of our friends jewellery classes, Barbara's Beads in Lurgan.
Again constructed using the twisted wire technique to place the individual green glass beads with a lovely ceramic style flower bud centre.

Vintage door hanger

Following on from my. October post on my door hangers, I finally got round to making a few more

Again I have decided upon a vintage theme with lace, pearl beading and roses, especially as a pearl beading matches the pearls the lady is wearing in the photograph.

Really liked this sentiment "glamour was her middle name "

A customer at the recent craft fora has asked me to skew her another one similar to this style but with a vintage picture of her friend.

Never thought of personalising the hangers, but I will give it a go.

Ruth Hamilton Demo

What a lovely day at the Paperworks Linen Green Moygashel with the very talented Ruth Hamilton

Here's some of the lovely cards she demonstrated on Saturday

The paper packs were beautiful and surprise surprise some have come home with me. I am still deciding what to make with them.

The card above was one of my favourites.
The promarker tutorial was also excellent on how to colour the really cute deer.

Craft fair - November

What a beautiful day for a craft fair.

I nipped out at lunchtime and took these photos whilst grabbing a cuppa. This was the view through the round window from our stand.

A few yards away, I spotted these graceful swans .....

Love the idea of how they pair for life, just like me and the hubby Lol

Even this pile of narly wood caught my eye, and no I didn't bring it home for the fire.

Even though there was awful weather for preceding weeks these little flowers were still blooming away in November.

If we take the time to look we can see beauty everywhere.

Door hangers

We sourced some wooden door hangers in a local home decor shop that were a bit ghastly, but ripe for customisation and more importantly were inexpensive.

I used some papers from my stash and some of my newly acquired Woodware pearl beads to totally change the hangers appearance

I Went with a vintage theme and used the pearls to compliment the necklace the girl is wearing in the image

All sorted with a dash of trusted Mod Podge.

Here's a close up shot!

The sentiment reminds me of a certain sister, who can always spot a bargain and turn it into something beautiful.

Gorjuss birthday card

Finally got the time to open my Gorjuss supplies and just HAD TO MAKE SOMETHING

The decoupage came in this lovely A4 pack of selections.

The individual sheets are all clearly marked, so very easy to assemble.

I also used the co-ordinating ribbons and a bottle top cap embellishment to
Add to the overall Santora effect

Just some bling and we are finished. Love this wee card,!

Lunchtime walk

I decided to go for a little ramble in the sunshine this afternoon, just to get away from my desk to be honest.

I spotted these lovely berries in the hedgerow outside the factory , "borrowed" someone's very large soup bowl and the picking began.

Collected all these in double quick time and had a relaxing 30 minutes in the fresh air to boot.

who was it said there is no such thing as a free lunch ?

Apples, crumble and a big splash of custard to follow.

Ardmore Community fun night

Last night saw the opening of Ardmore Comunity Hall Lly's Craft attic were pleased to be invited to run a fun craft activity for the evening
After an evening of "baking" and a morning of clay colouring and ok I admit it a little playing a workshop of cold porcline was set up
On arriving at the hall we were pleased to have been provided with two large tables and lots of chairs or what I thought was lots of chairs this proved to be not quite enough chairs.
Our vere first junior crafter to visit the worshop had broken her arm the day before but with a little help holding her stem she was able to make a very pretty flower (she came back latter and made 2 more) and as she did such a good job she become the owner of one of the silver hair slides from my earlier post
Every one made beautiful roses and many went on the make jewel flowers and some flowers that seem only to grow in the Derryadd area.
The workshop went on throughout the evening and everyone took their creations home some not quite finished although the did get to bring materials home to complete them. We were the last to tidy up as everyone was having such fun. It was a lovely evening and I look forward to working with them again in the future

Wire work necklace

Started this piece in Mrs 'Bs beads class but needed a few statement beads to give it an edge.
I picked up some bead strands at the Debbi Moore day in Hillsborough village centre
I'm very pleased with the warm tones. A nice piece to wear for the up coming cold weather.

Cherry crochet brooch

Well what a horrible rainy here in Northern Ireland .. I decided to make the most of being indoors by making this little cheery cherry brooch.

Considering the weather I opted for one of the free kits that came with issue 43 of Mollie Makes magazine. To be honest I couldn't face going out to get supplies. So needs most. And a FREE project to boot.

The little envelope supplied with the magazine has everything you need including the crochet hook.. Result.

Full written and visual instructions are also given in the magazine too.

Here's my finished cheery cherry brooch. It was very easy to make and quite fun.

Now where are my back issues ?. I'm sure there are other little projects perfect for a really wet afternoon avoiding the football and golf on TV.

Happy crafting.

Despite the weather we had a lovely time at lough Neagh Discovery Centre Oxford Island.

Thanks to everyone who visited our stand and bought some goodies.
