Freehand machine embroidery class
I also attended a machinery embroidery class hosted by Pauline Verrinder

The crash course covered all the basics and we even got to do our own little piece of machine embroidery using organza material and a free form flower design.
Really enjoyed the workshop and really learnt a lot in a very short space of time.
Here is a picture of my attempt ... To this stage on the. Workshop, to be completed

LOOK OUT: After their successful exhibition at the NEC in 2010, FIBREFUSION will running an interactive stand at the Fashion, Embroidery & Stitch Show/Sewing for Pleasure at the N.E.C. Birmingham.
Pauline will also be teaching workshops again in 2011
(Fibrefusion's Stand No. will be ZL29 - The title of our stand will be 'Going to Seed'). Come and say Hello!!!!!!

More workshop creations
Following on from yesterdays posts, here are more of the workshop samples from our NEC classes, enjoy the makings !
This class was given by Wendy Dolan
who is a textile artist specialising in machine embroidery and creative stitching.
Here is the Freehand sewing i completed to make a textile picture of a seascape scene. not bad for a first attempt .. If I do say so myself.
What are stitched textiles.... By Wendy Dolan
The art of stitched textiles combines fabric painting and printing, applied fabrics and hand and machine stitchery.
I use a combination of techniques in my stitched textile pictures and hangings. Carefully selected fabrics are pieced, patched and stitched together, creating textured backgrounds. Light fast pigment dyes are then applied using a variety of painting and printing techniques.
Surface texture is built up and developed, by applying more fabrics, yarns and embellishing the surface with machine and hand stitchery. The stitching emphasises the detail and further enriches the textured surface. Designs are developed into pictures and hangings in various sizes. I work from a variety of design sources, including landscape and natural forms, fish, ancient relics, architecture and still life.

Bobby textile design workshop
Here's some pictures of the material I made at the Bobby Britnell workshop
This first one is my Jackson Pollock attempt
Then I added some colour and created this piece.
It was a very interesting workshop and I will definitely have a go at doing this again.

Tim Holtz alcohol inks workshop
The girls and I were lucky enough to be able to get on the alcohol inks worksop
We used two different techniques
one using the blending tool and applying the colour direct from the tool and the other method involved using the inks by pouring direct onto the craft mat and combining the inks with blending solution and some metallic mixitives

I love the results, I have got to get some more alcohol inks blending solution and silver mixatives

Nec Birmingham
Wow inspiration overload .......
Here is the most amazing creation for the RNLI all made from wool creations
The structure is massive but the attention to detail is excellent
The headland are brilliant creations but.......
My favourites are the old Seadog mending his nets
And the mermaid
Here are some photos taken inside the structure .... Representing the sea life beneath
well done to all the people involved ...... Now I know what you can do with left over wool
Love It !!!!!
