Lattice card

Tonight's featured card is a lattice card

Items used .. Card stock, spellbinders flower die and aperture die, paper cutter, adhesive.... Now for a short tutorial on how to make it.

Firstly.. Using your spellbinders cut an aperture in one side of your card and also on an additional piece of a5 card ( the second piece will be used to cover the internal workings when you finish making the trellis )

Cut some 1 cm pieces of your chosen trellis paper

Next turn over one piece of the a5 card to the wrong side and begin threading the 1 cm paper strips through each other to create a trellis effect like the photo below

Turn over the card and this is the effect you will have created... Very nice eh.

Now to cover all those nasty ends up on the inside of the card, simply turn the card over again and stick the second a5 aperture over the entire side
Now it looks very tidy.

And also for added impact, use the leftover cutout aperture to make a lovely panel on the opposite page.

You can stamp your message or greeting here.

Now we can make some paper flowers and leaves to decorate the trellis... Go wild here, I have used paper and vellum to make mine

You can also add some sentiments too for added effect

And here we have the finish result.

Have a go yourself and don't forget to send me your photos of your completed cards as I always love to see them.
Enjoy!

Montage on Top - Instructions for..

Since so many of you have asked….I thought I would share with you the process I used to create my cotton top.
my finished top
The images I chose to decorate my top where form Debbi Moore’s Vintage Collection., the Shabby Chic Vintage Flowers and some images from her Shabby Chic Haberdashery.
CD’s are available on the Debbi Moore website The images are in a pdf format and using the snap shot tool it is easy to copy the image and simply paste in to your favorite image editing software.
Personally, I use Serif Craft Artist as it is the most user friendly. A free version is available from Daisy Trail website  Here you can also download graphics in the “free stuff” section which work well with other CD’s.
Using the photo lab function you can simply edit your pasted images leaving only the required image.
Without closing Serif (pr your chosen program) simply continue to copy and paste images in the same manner from your chosen source.
Once you have all your images you can move around until your happy with the final result. One of excellent benefits of using Craft Artist is he ability to alter the image order by simply right clicking on you image and selecting “order”.
Using this function you can send images backwards or forwards, letting you decide which image appear on top when images overlap.

When you are happy with your final montage you have two choices.

Method 1
You can print direct from the program onto t-shirt transfer paper, but remember to mirror you image before printing or any writing will be back to front when you apply to you chosen item.
Most printers have this feature in their properties section.

here I have reversed the image to ensure transfer print is correct way around

Method 2
Alternately if you have a Cameo or Craft Robo you can export the image to he machine’s software program which is called Silhouette Studio.
Again, if using this process it is at this point that you should mirror your image.

Now using the trace function create a cutting file. Tip, I would advise you select all images to enable you to group the cut line and image together, this avoids the danger of moving them as it can be difficult to accurately align them again.

Ensure you have enabled “show registration marks” and make sure your image does not enter the no cut area.

Now you can print on transfer paper.

Once you have a printed image complete with registration marks you can load the project into the Cameo.
Weed out the waste sections from the transfer sheet leaving only the image you want to transfer.

Now you can transfer your image to your chosen textile or project.
You can do this by using an iron but please make sure the steam function is turned off first.
Personally I prefer to use my Craft Dragon to transfer the image.
Before adding the image I like to dry press the fabric to ensure the image will adhere well and I find it gives a more professional finish

Have a go yourself and share your results I would love to see what you make !

Debbi also taulght us a new card template. It is an easel card with an overlay and an insert.

The afternoon class featured Bobbin the Bear.

Again Debbi showed us how to use a simple stepper card template and turn it on its edge to make an opening to hang embelsihments on.
