TV appearance

Some of you may remember that back in the summer we were involved in a club challenge.

We were asked to make items on an oriental theme using Debbi Moore cd's.

Debbi liked our creations so much she used them on today's TV programme the Create and Craft Channel on a show "toolbox" which was aired at 12 noon.

In the photo above you can see the porcelain bowls that Thelma made on the left and the beautiful leather napkin rings, placemats and coasters she made too. Wow TV star or what!

Here's a close up of the printer tray I made using loads on small oriental items.

All in all the TV presenters were well impressed with our craft creations especially as none of them were in fact cards.

All the items we made were all home decor projects which is very popular at the moment.

It is really lovely to know our projects are TV worthy.

Celebration candle

Tonight I thought I would make a simple card to celebrate a friends engagement... Then I decided to do something different instead.... Well I actually wanted to give more of a keepsake, and it was a special occasion.

A few strained brain cells later, and eureka my candle idea was formed.

I used the couples photograph as the background image, " borrowed from their social networking site, so it wouldn't spoil the surprise " and added their names for extra personalisation.

I used the technique of printing onto tissue paper and then embossed the design onto the candle using the heat gun.

A ribbon was attached at the back using a nice pearl headed pin and I also added a lovely diamanté buckle in the shape of a heart for added romantic effect.

Then I packaged the candle in a cello bag and tied it with a sparkled ribbon to protect the design and also to make it look even prettier and gift worthy.

Jewellery from junk

Today Thelma Helen and myself headed off at the early hour of 5.00 am to go car booting in search of suitable materials for our craft projects.

We managed to get one of those awful chandeliers that was covered in hundreds of beads for £3.00 and I scored a beautiful necklace and bracelet in fake pearls for £1.50

The chandelier was quickly taken apart and it literally has hundreds of greens beads in various sizes from large, medium and small teardrop shapes to various sizes of round beads.

The fake pearls were in two sizes of a plain round style.

I matched the two car boot finds together and here is the result!

The beads were joined together using split rings as I prefer not to see the thread or wire running through the beads, but admittedly it was more time consuming.

I also added these lovely sparkled beads that I bought from Eliza Beads for added effect, the bead caps were also extra from Eliza too.

The drop teardrops were attached using a simple pendant bail with the top attachment removed.

I love the clean design of this piece and the crispness of the pearls with the clear pale green stones.
Best of all you have got to love the price and the fact that I have enough to make loads more.

Now where can I get those earring finding things from .... Mmmnnn

Domino effect

I remember somewhere in the dark and distant past reading an article about using different objects as a base for altered art.

So the little grey cells started working... It happens sometimes lol...... And off I went in search of some materials....

And I found a box of old dominoes !!

Now for some creativity ........ I covered the domino front with a variety of alcohol inks primarily pink sherbet.

Then I randomly stamped a Debbi Moore swirl stamp over the alcohol inked base with Versamark ink pad, and embossed the swirl design.

Obviously the back was still looking like .. Well.. A domino , and I decided to use a product called metal magic to cover the back and hide what the original item was... In truth I didn't like the deep dotty bits!

It took a few goes, ie several small layers to fill in the spotted indents and I liked the effect as the metal magic melted over the edges a bit too.

The domino was drilled with a dremel tool to make a small hole to which I attached the silver pendant bail.

To complete the pendant necklace I used a pre bought cord and ribbon "chain" in complimentary silvery colours but you could easily make your own.

Hope you like the finished pendant and I am looking forward to using the rest of the box of dominoes for more pendants and altered art.

Eva's birthday card

A friends daughter mad me this beautiful birthday card.

Eva used some of the hanna beads I got for her last year for her birthday.

It was a really nice touch and I intend to use the bead name plate as a fridge magnet at a later date.

Question ... can less be more!

Today I decided to snip some small flowers from the garden.

I don't often do this as I much prefer to see them in the garden in situ and they do last longer that way too.

However it was Monday, and I needed a pick-me-up to remind me of the countryside.

Oh boy.. They look lovely in my antique vase, don't you agree.

The fragrance of the Jasmine is so subtle, delicate and refreshing not like the shop bought sprays. If only there was a summer this year the whole garden would smell great.

Those tiny flowers sure know how to make a statement.

So yes, in this case less is definately more!

More from the small holding !

Wow today has been a bumper harvest day in the mini fruit orchard... Following on for last weeks red currant harvest we now have a BUMPER yield of Victoria plums.

Loads have been left for the birds, which translates to... Too high up the trees to reach.. Lucky birds they did look the juiciest too, Darn

Now if only there was taste a vision ... You could all try my delicious plums, but trust me they are yummy and very very sweet.
